It’s been a huge couple of years for anime films, so it should come as no surprise that the songs featured therein have been some of the hottest in Japan. This applies to karaoke rankings too, and Nagoya-based company XING unveiled the results of the most popular karaoke songs for the first half of 2023. This covers the number of times songs were performed using XING’s online karaoke service JOYSOUND and UGA2 series between January 1 and June 5, 2023, and the main theme song from One Piece Film Red topped the list.
The song in the number one spot was Ado’s “New Genesis,” followed by the ever-present “A Cruel Angel’s Thesis” by Yoko Takahashi, the theme song for Neon Genesis Evangelion. Here’s the full top 10:
