On-Gaku: Our Sound Director Kenji Iwaisaka Teases New Film

On-Gaku: Our Sound Director Kenji Iwaisaka Teases New FilmWe all know that Kenji Iwaisaka, the director of the awesome On-Gaku: Our Sound, is at work on a new film called Hina is Beautiful. But now the director has teased a new film that might actually come out before Hina.

The word came from a stage appearance at the Tokyo International Film Festival, which featured a screening of On-Gaku.

Iwaisaka says the film is in “full-fledged production” and that he’ll be able to say more about it next year.

On-Gaku was released in Japan in 2020 after almost a decade in production, and won several awards.

Meanwhile, Hina is Beautiful is set to be completed in 2026, according to the Cannes Marche du Film. It’s written by Takamasa Oe (Drive My Car) with animation direction and character designs by Asano Naoyuki (Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!).

Here’s how the Marche du Film site describes it:

Set in Izu, Japan. Men are fighting over a woman called Hina. What is it exactly that makes Hina mislead men? As the men try to reveal their true feelings for Hina, strong, muscly men also get involved and the sound of the festival drum signals the start of a confrontation.
