The Top 10 Ocean-Themed Anime Ranked by Otaku USA Readers
Earlier this week we asked readers to vote on the anime which makes the best vicarious vacation when you can’t make it to the beach yourself. We received 284 responses spread across 20 different series and assembled a list of the top 10 most popular choices.
10) Azure Lane (9 votes)
9) Arpeggio of Blue Steel (10 votes)
8) Tsuritama (13 votes)
7) Squid Girl (14 votes)
6) Nadia: Secret Of Blue Water (16 votes)
5) Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet (19 votes)
4) Aria (24 votes)
3) Nagi-Asu: A Lull in the Sea (26 votes)
2) One Piece (42 votes)
1) Ponyo (70 votes)
Our biggest surprise is that Masaaki Yuasa‘s critically-acclaimed Lu Over The Wall received almost no votes and thus did not make it in the top ten. Squid Girl has always seemed to have a very vocal fan presence, so it was a little surprising to see it only hit #7, while Nagi-Asu seemed to rake in a ton of votes out of nowhere.
Are there any titles you thought really deserved to make it in this list which didn’t? Let us know in the comments!
