Fans will likely never stop holding out hope for a fancy HD remake of Final Fantasy VII, arguably the most popular entry in the long-running RPG series. Square Enix knows this, and so does character designer Tetsuya Nomura. According to a recent Famitsu interview with Nomura, though, he says the focus at the moment is on making new titles.
Nomura hopes the new titles they’re creating at Square Enix will match or even top Final Fantasy VII. While that answer isn’t likely to satisfy fans, he also offered up some FFVII development trivia. For instance, originally Yuffie was going to be a wanted character, with posters showing her face throughout Midgar. The faces on each poster would be different, and the Yuffie that eventually hops in your party would resemble the last one you saw.
Hey, even if we never get a remake, PC gamers can always try out the mod managing program Bootleg for a Final Fantasy VII HD experience.
