Nobuo Uematsu, Video Game Orchestra at Anime Boston

In the crossover zone between fans of Japanese RPG music and attendees of Anime Boston 2010 (which probably makes for a fairly large circle in an otaku Venn Diagram) lies a very pleased group of people. That’s because this year’s convention, taking place from April 2-4, will feature legendary composer Nobuo Uematsu in attendance.

Uematsu is most famous for his work on Square Enix’s Final Fantasy series. Though he left Square in 2004, he now works closely with Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi’s team at Mistwalker, and has composed for titles like Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey. One would also be remiss not to check out his band The Black Mages for some truly scorching rock renditions of his timeless music.

The folks behind Anime Boston have also announced the return of Shota Nakama’s Video Game Orchestra, this time with an even larger ensemble. Be sure to check them out if you’re at all interested in TV games and their accompanying tunes, because I hear they put on a heck of a show.

So, who’s going to be at Anime Boston this year?
