Ninja Gaiden 3 to Reboot the Series

Reboots are the new remakes, aren’t they? Team Ninja’s Ninja Gaiden series looks set to continue the trend, following a path similar to that of Capcom’s rival action series, Devil May Cry.

Maybe that’s a good thing for Team Ninja, though, what with the driving force behind Ninja Gaiden‘s brutal style of bloodshed having since departed. While it’s indeed tough to imagine the 3D take on the franchise without the outspoken Tomonobu Itagaki behind the wheel, starting from scratch might not be such a bad idea after all.

Team Ninja head Yosuke Hayashi told Famitsu that their aim was to make an action game that’s “most interesting for the current era.”

What that will result in is anyone’s guess, and Hayashi remains mum about anything more detailed regarding the series’ direction. For now, we’ll have to wait and see what life after Itagaki brings for our ninja and demon-demolishing hero, Ryu Hayabusa.
