Okay, this news is a couple weeks old, but, y’know, holidays. Anyway, exciting stuff: the third annual Niigata International Animation Festival is set to feature a retrospective on Satoshi Kon, one of the all-time great anime directors.
The festival, which takes place from March 15 to 20 in Niigata, will show all four of Kon’s films plus his series Paranoia Agent. In addition, it’ll show some features he didn’t direct but had a significant role in, like Run, Melos, Patlabor 2: The Movie and Memories.
There will also be some talk sessions, ostensibly with folks who worked with Kon, who passed away in 2010 at the age of 46.
Reason enough to make the trip to Niigata this March.
