New Details on the Pokémon XY Movie

My twitter feed has only recently stopped talking literally all the dang time about Pokémon XY, the recent Pokémon game for the 3DS that came out in October of last year, and already we’re getting news about the next Pokémon movie. The Pokémon Company’s got a well-oiled machine going here, and nobody’s going to stop them from releasing this thing. Nobody.

The movie, titled Pokémon XY: Hakai no Mayu (which translates to Cocoon of Destruction), is reportedly going to center on a showdown between Yveltal and Xerneas, the two legendary pocket monsters gracing the covers and title screens of their respective games, and forever flying around in my 3DS’ Streetpass puzzle piece collection.

Kunihiko Yuyama will be directing the movie as usual, making this the 17th Pokémon franchise film he’s worked on. That’s a heck of a steady paycheck he’s got going, there.

According to Monthly Coro Coro Comics magazine, the movie is scheduled to open in Japanese theaters July 19, and will be preceded by a special campaign where readers will get to vote between four Pokémon to determine the special prize included with advance tickets — Jirachi, Victini, Manaphy, and Darkrai.

Are you a fan of the Pokémon movies? Are you looking forward to the new one? Let us know in the comments!
