Kill Blue Vol. 1

Kill Blue

If you haven’t been keeping up with weekly Shonen Jump releases, you might be new to the world of Kill Blue. But this Viz Manga title is a must-read, no matter when you pick it up. Hailing from Kuroko’s Basketball creator Tadatoshi Fujimaki, this is another in the long line of “They’re an assassin but…” manga series. Like SPY x FAMILY and Sakamoto Days before it, there’s more to this series’s assassin than the job title. Because Juzo Ogami has a problem: he’s de-aged into a middle schooler!

As Ogami plays protector to pharmaceutical heir Noren, he’s also making up for all the years he missed. Being a middle schooler again lets him join clubs, discover the joy of education, and develop an unhinged obsession with magical girl anime. But all those things are down the road. This first volume is a great gateway to what’s currently one of Jump‘s less talked about, but most fun, titles.

Kill Blue Vol. 1 goes on sale June 3.

Girl Crush Vol. 1

Girl Crush

Girl Crush is the massive hit you may not yet have heard of—but Viz Manga will change that next month! Midori Tayama’s manga about two girls seeking fame in the world of K-pop pre-sold half a million copies in Japan. Will this huge hit see similar success overseas? We’re about to find out!

The story follows the practically perfect Tenka and the awkward but earnest Erian. Erian wants to be a K-pop idol, which Tenka thinks is impossible. But when Tenka’s crush starts taking an interest in Erian, this perfect princess decides to follow the same dream. Can her commitment to perfection keep all eyes on her, or will the world of K-pop demand a different sort of talent? With slick and gorgeous art, complex characters, and a keen look into the industry, Girl Crush is a promising title.

Girl Crush Vol. 1 goes on sale June 10.

And More…

Magilumiere Co. Ltd.

Viz Manga will also be continuing several of its popular titles. Fans of media tie-ins will want to pick up the continuations of Magilumiere Magical Girls Inc., Dandadan, and ZOM 100: Bucket List of the Dead, to name a few. Want to get ahead of the curve? A Star Brighter Than the Sunwhose anime is scheduled to premiere this October, will have a second volume in print next month as well.

If you’re looking for new titles to explore, there’s plenty of those, too. The manga tie-ins for both Minecraft and Pokémon Scarlet & Violet continue next month, with each releasing their second volume.
