Say what you will about this upcoming Naruto game, but Japanese developers sure do know how to milk a genre when it’s hot. In a departure from previous Naruto titles, Naruto Shippuden: Kizuna Drive brings co-op multiplayer battling into the mix in a style very reminiscent of Capcom’s Monster Hunter series.
Why the drastic change from the usual fiery fracas? Well, it could have something to do with how absurdly successful Capcom’s MH games are. Still, Kizuna Drive doesn’t appear to have completely plunged off the deep end. What we have here is very much Naruto, only with an original story, some new characters, and the added spice of enjoying it all with friends over ad hoc wireless.
Developed by Premium Agency and published by Namco Bandai Games, Naruto Shippuden: Kizuna Drive is scheduled for release in Spring 2011.
