Moto Hagio Is the Single Manga Creator Nominated for Eisner Hall of Fame This Year

Comic-Con International has released its list of nominations for the 2021 Will Eisner Comic Awards Hall of Fame. Mangaka Moto Hagio, whose work such as The Heart of Thomas greatly influenced shojo and shonen-ai manga, is the only manga creator nominated. The other nominees are Ruth Atkinson, Dave Cockrum, Kevin Eastman, Neil Gaiman, Max Gaines, Justin Green, Don Heck, Klaus Janson, Jeffrey Catherine Jones, Hank Ketcham, Scott McCloud, Grant Morrison, Alex Niño, P. Craig Russell, and Gaspar Saladino.

Of all these nominees, four will ultimately be chosen to be included in the Comic Awards Hall of Fame. Professionals within the comic book world will judge which four, with announcements to be made at this year’s virtual Comic-Con. Hagio was also nominated in 2020 but did not get enough votes to be inducted.
