Last week we posted about how McDonald’s is celebrating its many fictional anime counterparts with a new WcDonald’s campaign, which includes teaming up with Naruto production house Studio Pierrot on a series of shorts. Well, the first of four anime shorts made its way online earlier today, kicking off “The Race to WcDonald’s” in appropriately bombastic fashion.
Check out the 30-second piece of deep-fried animation:
Next up is “Love from Across the Booth” on March 4, followed by WcNuggets Space Frontier 3000″ on March 11 and “The Wisdom of the Sauce” on March 18.
As previously reported, Studio Pierrot is involved along with artist Acky Bright, who designed custom bags. On March 9-10, there is even going to be a “multi-sensory dining experience” at WcDonald’s in Los Angeles. Because it’s bound to be popular, they’re taking reservations for this, beginning on February 28.
WcDonald’s and similar parodies/likenesses can be found in anime ranging from City Hunter all the way to Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day and the prominent, plot-centric inclusion in The Devil is a Part-Timer!. What do you think of the first WcDonald’s anime short?
