Line Research in Japan recently did a poll on favorite characters from the Super Mario franchise, and Mario himself was not the winner! Can you guess who was?
Everyone surveyed was Japanese, and their ages ranged from 10 to 59. At the final countdown, here are the results:
10. Donkey Kong
9. Rosalina
8. Boo/King Boo
7. Koopa Troopa
6. Luigi
5. Bowser
4. Peach
3. Toad
2. Mario
1. Yoshi
Looking at what different age ranges thought, Mario did come in first for people in their forties and fifties. He came in third for people in their twenties and thirties.
And Yoshi? He didn’t get so many votes from people in their forties and fifties, but he did well with younger voters. People in their twenties and thirties voted for him twice as much as they did Mario, and when you get to the teens and preteens, they voted for Yoshi three times over Mario.
