Manga Creator Compares Women Readers to Warriors

Yuki reading

Rootport, the manga creator behind Kami to Yobareta Otaku (translated as The Otaku Called God) shared his thoughts on girls who like to read.

“‘A young girl who’s quiet and reserved, and likes reading books’ is one existing template,” he wrote on Twitter. “The real-world girls I know who like reading, though, are clever, shrewd, and eloquent, not at all reticent or timid.”

He also called women who are bookworms “warriors of civilized society.”

SoraNews24 translated some of the responses he got from Twitter users and fans, including the following :

“When I worked part-time at a library, most of the kids who were enthusiastic readers weren’t the quiet types.”
“Real book-lovers put a lot of energy into practically applying the things they learn from reading.”
“Reading probably makes you mentally tough.”

Are you a reader warrior?
