BLUE LOCK season 2 aired its final episode, but the adaptation of the soccer manga isn’t over yet. The latest episode teased the Neo Egoist League, and along with the finale came word that Mamoru Miyano (Light in Death Note) will be joining the anime’s cast as German striker Michael Kaiser.
Yuji Haibara (The Slime Diaries) directs BLUE LOCK season 2, with Kenji Tanabe on character designs and Jun Murayama on music for the eightbit production.
Kodansha USA Publishing comes out with the original manga by Muneyuki Kaneshiro and Yūsuke Nomura, and it gave this description for the plot:
BLUE LOCK Plot

The Japan Football Union is hell-bent on creating a striker who hungers for goals and thirsts for victory, and who can be the decisive instrument in turning around a losing match…and to do so, they’ve gathered 300 of Japan’s best and brightest youth players. Who will emerge to lead the team…and will they be able to out-muscle and out-ego everyone who stands in their way?
The original manga started in the pages of Weekly Shonen Magazine in 2018. At 2021’s 45th annual Manga Awards from Kodansha, it took home the prize for Best Shonen Manga award.
