Lycoris Recoil, which many fans called the best anime of 2022, is back in mini form. There are six animated short films on the way, according to an announcement during a second-anniversary event this weekend.
Each film will focus on different characters’ daily lives, and each will be directed and storyboarded by a different director, with oversight from Lycoris Recoil series director Shingo Adachi. One of the six episodes will feature a script from series character designer Imigimuro. More details are set to be announced soon, though we did get one screenshot from the new project, as seen above.
Lycoris Recoil hit screens back in 2022 and ran 13 episodes. It’s also got a manga and a couple light novels. Here’s how the Crunch described the anime:
For these peaceful days――there’s a secret behind it all.
A secret organization that prevents crimes: “DA – Direct Attack”. And their group of all-girl agents: “Lycoris”. This peaceful everyday life is all thanks to these young girls. The elite Chisato Nishikigi is the strongest Lycoris agent of all time. Alongside is Takina Inoue, the talented but mysterious Lycoris. They work together at one of its branches–Café LycoReco.
Here, the orders this café takes range from coffee and sweets to childcare, shopping, teaching Japanese to foreign students, etc. It’s mostly tasks unbefitting of Lycoris.
The free-spirited and optimistic pacifist, Chisato. And the cool-headed and efficient Takina. The chaotic everyday lives of this mismatched duo begin!
