Komi Can’t Communicate Manga Final Arc Approaching

komi can't communicate

Tomohito Oda’s Komi Can’t Communicate manga isn’t over yet, but it’s about to enter its final stage. According to this year’s 34th issue of Shogakukan’s Shonen Sunday magazine, the beginning of the end will arrive on July 24, which is when it enters its final arc.

The manga first launched in the pages of Shonen Sunday back in May 2016, and has been collected in 34 volumes so far in Japan. VIZ Media has published 30 in English to date.

Since its debut, Komi Can’t Communicate has inspired two seasons of anime and a live-action series. The first anime season premiered in October 2021, with Netflix streaming outside of Japan. The second season followed in April 2022.

Ayumu Watanabe (Witch Hat Atelier) serves as chief director for the anime, with Kazuki Kawagoe (ZOM 100: Bucket List of the Dead) directing, Deko Akao (Noragami) on series composition and Atsuko Nakajima (Ranma 1/2) adapting character designs at anime production house OLM.

Here’s how VIZ Media describes the original manga:

Komi Can’t Communicate Synopsis

Timid Tadano is a total wallflower, and that’s just the way he likes it. But all that changes when he finds himself alone in a classroom on the first day of high school with the legendary Komi. He quickly realizes she isn’t aloof—she’s just super awkward. Now he’s made it his mission to help her on her quest to make 100 friends!
