Kodansha USA Announces Return of Sailor Moon Manga

Hold it in, don’t go nuts yet… Sailor Moon news is typically met here not with a whimper, but with full-blown hysterical excitement, so one can’t possible be too careful. Kodansha, having heard your many squeals of joy, just announced that they’ll be publishing not one, but two Sailor Moon manga series in the US. Okay… go wild.

In addition to Naoko Takeuchi‘s original 1992 Sailor Moon series, Kodansha announced that they’ll be publishing Takeuchi’s two-volume precursor, Codename: Sailor V, available for the first time in North America.

Based on the 2003 Japanese rerelease, Sailor Moon‘s 18 volumes have been condensed into 12 deluxe editions, which will be released on a bi-monthly basis. The manga is set as part of Kodansha’s September 2011 lineup, but it’s never too soon to prep yourself for such an unprecedented wave of magical girl mania, right?
