Ahead of the July premiere of season 2, the Kaiju No. 8 anime is heading to the big screen when the compilation film premieres in Japan on March 28. Another character trailer is here just weeks before the opening, this time to put the spotlight on Reno Ichikawa.
Refresh yourself with a look at Reno in the video below.
As previously reported, the compilation movie won’t just be recycled material. It will have a segment with a new, original episode titled “Hoshina’s Day Off.” Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma mangaka Yūto Tsukuda came up with the story for it, and Yuichiro Kido of Dr. STONE penned the script. The new episode will be about Reno and Hoshina when they, as the title indicates, have a day off.
Crunchyroll streams the TV anime and VIZ Media publishes the original manga by Naoya Matsumoto (check out Otaku USA‘s review). Here’s the official synopsis:
Kaiju No. 8 Plot
Kafka hopes to one day keep his pact with his childhood friend Mina to join the Japan Defense Force and fight by her side. But while she’s out neutralizing kaiju as Third Division captain, Kafka is stuck cleaning up the aftermath of her battles. When a sudden rule change makes Kafka eligible for the Defense Force, he decides to try out for the squad once more. There’s just one problem—he’s made the Defense Force’s neutralization list under the code name Kaiju No. 8.
