Sometimes getting into a new series that’s been on for a while can be a little intimidating, but thankfully that isn’t the case with the Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? anime, AKA DanMachi. The main seasons are conveniently numbered, and with a quick recommendation you can figure out when to plug in the OVAs, spinoff series, and the feature film for the best possible experience. Once you make your way through the delightful Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?, it’s time to move on to the first OVA, Is It Wrong to Expect a Hot Spring in a Dungeon?, followed by the excellent Ais Wallenstein-focused spinoff series, Sword Oratoria: Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? On the Side.
From there it’s a straight shot through DanMachi II and the DanMachi II OVA, right on to the latest season, DanMachi III, which just concluded its run as part of the fall 2020 season. Finally, to wrap things up nicely (for now), you can soak in the self-contained story of the Arrow of the Orion movie, which was originally released after Sword Oratoria but can be viewed at any time. It just feels right to end this binge on a briskly-paced movie.
