How to Spend Your Halloween [Riki-Oh]

If you live in Los Angeles and have little to nothing going on for Halloween (or right after), there’s no reason not to hit up the New Beverly Cinema for an intense night with Hong Kong trash classic Riki-Oh: The Story of Ricky. If you haven’t seen it, you might question its presence on this fancy news page, but it’s totally relevant, I swear. I get to post about Riki-Oh since it’s based loosely and weirdly on a manga by Masahiko Takajo and Tough‘s Tetsuya Saruwatari, okay?

The film was originally suggested by director Edgar Wright, whose zombie comedy Shaun of the Dead will be kick-starting the double feature. Riki is a tough act to open for, but Wright will be at the New Beverly for one of the nights, the dates of which fall on October 31st (naturally) and November 1st. Even if you have seen the movie before, a rowdy movie theater on Halloween is a tough thing to beat.

Then you can go trick or treating.
