hololive Is Coming to Dodgers Stadium to Perform at MLB Game

The official hololive website proudly announced that the Virtual YouTubers Hoshimachi Suisei, Usada Pekora, and Gawr Gura will be performing at Dodgers Stadium for the game on July 5 (in the midst of Anime Expo). It explained:

Special announcements by Hoshimachi Suisei, Usada Pekora, and Gawr Gura will be used over the PA system in the stadium during the hololive night. Other features of the collaboration include a special photo spot with talents’ life-sized cutouts in the stadium, and a hololive night drone show. There will also be collaboration merchandise available for purchase at the Dodger Stadium.

That night, the Los Angeles Dodgers will be playing the Milwaukee Brewers. Keeping with the tradition of singing “Take Me Out to the Ball Game” during the seventh inning stretch, Gawr Gura will croon the famous baseball song at the bottom of the seventh inning.

You can go here to get a special ticket package, where you’ll get tickets to the game as well as trading cards of the VTubers in Dodgers uniforms. As you might guess, this game is the only place to get those trading cards! These tickets are available while supplies last. The designs for the exclusive T-shirts and baseball hats have yet to be publicly revealed.

The hololive night drone show is scheduled to take place after the game is over.

Nothing like this has ever been done before, and July 5 also happens to be the birthday of Dodgers designated hitter Shohei Ohtani. Otaku USA recently covered how Ohtani is a judge for Weekly Shonen Jump’s Jump Sports Manga Award. The other judges are all professional sports mangaka, with Ohtani being the only professional athlete taking on judging responsibilities.

A video for hololive night has been put online to get fans psyched for the real thing. Take a look!
