Fans of Gundam SEED were recently treated to news that a sequel film is being planned, and those plans have now moved over to full development. The latest update has director Mitsuo Fukuda returning at the helm, with the release timing and other details to be announced at a later date.
This is just one part of the Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Project ignited initiative, which also includes a new spin-off manga called Gundam SEED Eclipse, which is on the way to Kadokawa’s Gundam Ace magazine on July 26. SOW is credited with the story, Atsushi Soga with the art, Kogado Studio with character designs, and Junichi Akutsu with mecha designs.
Beyond this, there’s a new Gundam SEED video game on the way, but those details will be announced at some point in the future.
This was all announced at today’s unveiling of the life-size Freedom Gundam statue in Shanghai, the opening video of which should make its way online soon.
