Guinness World Records Says JUJUTSU KAISEN is the Most In-Demand Anime

jujutsu kaisen season 2

If you were going to guess which anime you think is the most popular in the world right now, what would you say? Well, according to the Guinness World Records, that honor currently goes to JUJUTSU KAISEN! It dethroned Attack on Titan by a narrow margin, and Attack on Titan had held the title for “most in-demand anime” from 2020 until now. One Piece, a perennial favorite, also barely lost to JUJUTSU KAISEN.

The Guinness World Records is basing “in-demand” from analytics by Parrot Analytics, a data-science firm. Parrot Analytics looks at multiple things, such as worldwide downloads, streaming, social media mentions, and internet research on a given show. Based on this, Parrot Analytics says that JUJUTSU KAISEN is, on average, 71.2 times more in-demand than your typical TV series. It was at its most popular last December.

JUJUTSU KAISEN cleaned up at the 2024 Crunchyroll Anime Awards 2024, and Guinness World Records noted that its young viewership helped propel it this high. About 71% of JUJUTSU KAISEN’s viewers are between the ages of 13 and 22. One Piece’s audience of 13-to-22-year-olds is at approximately 56%, and Attack on Titan’s is percentage is a little higher, at about 64%.

VIZ Media is releasing both the original Jujutsu Kaisen manga by Gege Akutami as well as its anime adaptation. It gave this description for its Blu-ray of JUJUTSU KAISEN, Season 1, Part 1:

Yuji Itadori is a boy with tremendous physical strength, though he lives a completely ordinary high school life. One day, to save a classmate who has been attacked by curses, he eats the finger of Ryomen Sukuna, taking the curse into his own soul. From then on, he shares one body with Ryomen Sukuna. Guided by the most powerful of sorcerers, Satoru Gojo, Itadori is admitted to Tokyo Jujutsu High School, an organization that fights the curses.
