Jan Scott-Frazier has an impressive résumé in the world of anime. She was the first non-Japanese person in the production department of an anime studio, she founded the production company TAO Corporation Ltd., and she was once the president of Production I.G. USA. Unfortunately, she’s now dealing with health issues. Voice actress Amanda Winn Lee (who voices Rei in Neon Genesis Evangelion) has started a GoFundMe page to help.
“We all know and love Jan- anime royalty, Princess of Canada, purveyor of souls, Dungeon Master extraordinaire, and so much more. Medically she’s had a rough go of it,” Lee wrote, explaining that Frazier’s been kicked off the kidney donor list and needs machinery. “She needs a little breathing room- literally. She needs to get her oxygen concentrator fixed/replaced . . .She’s also the caretaker for her elderly mom, who is a doll, but who also ain’t feelin’ too hot. If you’ve got a few spare bucks lying around, we’d like to get her a new oxygenator and maybe give her some groceries and whatnot . . . Please help someone who has helped so many.”
As of this writing, they’ve made $10,778, which is past the stated goal of $10,000. Scott-Fraizer left this comment on January 20:
“I am so humbled at your caring and generosity and I truly thank you for helping me so much. This makes a HUGE difference in my life!!! Got my new oxygen concentrator thanks to you! I am overwhelmed and it’s hard to make words. Thank you very very much!
—Jan”
While this is a major help, it’s clear funds are still appreciated as Scott-Fraizer still has plenty to deal with. Lee wrote yesterday, “Okay, so I was thinking… what if we gave her enough to have a housekeeper come once a week? Or better still, enough to hire a part time nurse for to help with her mom?”
