Warner Bros. lined up some fresh movie premiere dates this week, and the sequel to Godzilla vs. Kong is among them. We’ll have to wait a little while for this particular slugfest to continue, because the next installment is due out in theaters on March 15, 2024.
Mary Parent, Alex Garcia, Eric McLeod, Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni are on board to produce the sequel, and Adam Wingard (You’re Next, Death Note) will once again direct. The first Godzilla vs. Kong film opened in cinemas and debuted on HBO Max simultaneously on March 31, 2021, opening to the tune of $31.6 million domestically and eventually pulling in $470 million globally.
The followup to Godzilla vs. Kong will also have IMAX showings available when it premieres.
Here’s how Warner Bros. describes the first movie:
Legends collide in “Godzilla vs. Kong” as these mythic adversaries meet in a spectacular battle for the ages, with the fate of the world hanging in the balance. Kong and his protectors undertake a perilous journey to find his true home, and with them is Jia, a young orphaned girl with whom he has formed a unique and powerful bond. But they unexpectedly find themselves in the path of an enraged Godzilla, cutting a swath of destruction across the globe. The epic clash between the two titans—instigated by unseen forces—is only the beginning of the mystery that lies deep within the core of the Earth.
