Ghibli Releases Traditional Folding Fans in Time for Summer

Summer isn’t too far away, and Studio Ghibli has come out with new merchandise to help people stay cooler in the hotter months. The merchandise is also an ecologically friendly way to stay cooler, which falls in line with Hayao Miyazaki’s interests.

We’re talking about traditional Japanese folding fans. There are two of them, along with two handkerchiefs to make matching sets. One set has a Totoro theme, while the other references Spirited Away, which is turning twenty this year.

The handkerchiefs go for 440 yen (about $4). The fans are pricier, going for 3,278 yen (about $30) each. They become available later this month.
