Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree DLC expansion is competing in the categories Best Score and Music, Best RPG, Best Game Direction, and Best Art Direction.

Astro Bot’s other nominated categories are Best Action/Adventure Game, Best Family Game, Best Game Direction. Best Art Direction, Best Score and Music, and Best Audio Design.

Meanwhile, Metaphor: ReFantazio is contending in the categories Best Score and Music, Best RPG, Best Game Direction, Best Narrative, and Best Art Direction.

There are a number of other Japanese games that are in the running that didn’t make it as a nominee for Game of the Year. Some of these other examples include Final Fantasy XIV (nominated for Best Community Support and Best Online Game), The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom (nominated for Best Action/Adventure Game and Best Family Game), Super Mario Party Jamboree (nominated for Best Family Game) and Marvel vs CAPCOM Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics (nominated for Best Fighting Game).

The winners are set to be unveiled on December 12, at LA’s Peacock Theatre. People can stream the ceremony if they can’t be there in person. Winners are chosen through a combination of a voting jury (which gets most of the say) as well as from fans who can vote online.
