Gal & Dino Anime is Back with New Episodes After COVID Delay

Fans of the hybrid live-action/anime Gal & Dino will be happy to learn that the series is about to return after a COVID-19 related delay. Episodes actually made their way back to the airwaves in Japan on October 3, but those were just reruns starting from the first episode. This weekend will finally mark the debut of the brand new eighth episode, featuring Japanese social media influencer Mirai Yokoda.

As if the series continuing isn’t exciting enough, the team is also having some fun with promotion. Using the hashtag #恐竜あげみざわチャレンジ (Kyōryū Agemizawa Challenge), the series is launching a TikTok dance challenge for the opening theme song. Those who enter have a chance to win Gal & Dino merchandise. Check out an announcement video below.

Funimation was streaming the series as it aired until its May postponement, so look for it to resume at some point there.

The manga is also available in English as My Roomie is a Dino, published by Kodansha Comics. Here’s how Funimation describes the Gal & Dino anime series:

After a night of drinking, Kaede wakes up realizing that in her drunken daze she had brought an unexpected guest home—a dinosaur! Kaede just goes with the flow and accepts her new living situation. Now she navigates her daily life while eating, watching TV, and shopping with her prehistoric roommate. Together, the duo enjoys each other’s company as they take on whatever the day brings.
