FUNimation Partners with Nico Nico, Adds Fafner and Oblivion Island

FUNimation rolled out some big dog announcements today at its New York Comic Con panel, the major reveal involving a partnership with Nico Nico, Inc.

To coincide with this announcement, FUNimation announced a handful of new simulcast titles, which will all stream at https://www.niconico.com/anime. The titles announced are:

The Future Diary
Haganai (Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai)
LAST EXILE -Fam The Silver Wing-

Guilty Crown

In addition to “the big one,” FUNimation also added two new licenses: Production I.G. feature Oblivion Island and the Fafner anime series and movie. Oblivion Island: Haruka and the Magic Mirror is Production I.G.’s first fully CG-animated feature.

Here’s the synopsis of Fafner via FUNi’s official release:

The series focuses on a group of children who pilot the titular Fafners in a war against the Festum—giant aliens who destroyed much of the world. The movie takes place two years after the end of the original series.
