If you’re looking for a new way to read Hiromu Arakawa’s Fullmetal Alchemist manga, the series will soon be on WEBTOON. The English-language platform will premiere the series—in full color and retooled for vertical scrolling—on May 7.
Arakawa first debuted the now classic Fullmetal Alchemist manga in the pages of Monthly Shonen Gangan back in 2001. It ran until 2010 and is available in English through VIZ Media. Two TV anime series have been produced in the years since, including the original in 2003 and Brotherhood in 2009. The series has also inspired anime films, OVAs and a live-action feature film.
Here’s how WEBTOON describes the story:
Fullmetal Alchemist Plot
Fullmetal Alchemist follows brothers Edward and Alphonse Elric, young genius alchemists who attempt to bring their dead mother back to life through the forbidden act of human transmutation. However, the price is too high — the transmutation fails, and Edward loses both his leg and his brother in the process. To save him, Edward sacrifices his arm to transmute his brother’s soul, attaching it to a suit of armor. In the aftermath, the brothers set out on a long journey to reclaim their bodies.
