As an added bonus, Nishikawa wrote this message to fans:
Hey everyone, Takanori Nishikawa here!
I’m thrilled to announce that I’ll be performing the opening theme song for the upcoming TV anime, “From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman”!
Over the years, I’ve been building my career, and it’s amazing to see how my music has influenced and inspired others to start their own journeys. For this project, I’m teaming up with Oki, the guitarist from Novelbright.
Oki once stood at the Inazuma Rock Festival, dreaming of becoming a professional musician. Now, we share the stage together, and I am excited to collaborate with him on this song. His energy and style felt like the perfect match for the theme of this anime, so I asked him to join in this collaboration.
This project has been incredibly exciting for me, and I truly hope this song resonates with all of you. I want it to capture the spirit of the anime and make you even more excited to watch.
Thank you for your support of “HEROES”, the opening theme song, and “From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman”, premiering this April!
NBCUniversal Japan is hyping up the release, including bringing voice actors Hiroaki Hirata (Beryl Gardenant), Nao Toyama (Allucia Citrus), Hitomi Ueda (Surena Lysandra), Yuuki Hirose (Curuni Crueciel), and Hinaki Yano (Ficelle Harbeller) to AnimeJapan 2025 on March 23. On March 30, the KABUKICHO TOWER STAGE will offer a world premiere screening of the first two episodes.
From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman started out as a light novel series and also has a manga adaptation. Yen Press publishes the manga and gave this description for the first volume:
Middle-aged Beryl Gardinant has only ever accomplished one thing: running a humble sword-fighting dojo in the quiet countryside. But when he’s paid a visit by his former pupil, Allusia, he discovers that she has become an elite commander—and she’s hardly the only ex-student who’s a renowned warrior! Now forced by Allusia to become a special instructor to the strongest order of knights in the kingdom, can Beryl reach his full potential even though he’s an old man?
Amazon recently announced it’s using AI dubbing for some of its shows on Amazon Prime, and you can learn more about that here.
