Shigeru Sagazaki’s From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman is the latest light novel series to get its own anime adaptation. The project was revealed along with the launch of an official website, and the anime is currently lined up for an April 2025 premiere.
A teaser trailer made its way online along with the news, including a teaser visual and info on the staff behind it. Check out the first promo below.

The From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman anime has Akio Kazumi (Loner Life in Another World) as director, with Kunihiko Okada (The Demon Sword Master of Excalibur Academy) on scripts, Satsuki Hayasaka (Yatogame-chan Kansatsu Nikki) on character designs and chief animation direction, and Yasuharu Takanashi (Fairy Tail) on music for the Passione and Hayabusa Film production.

Beryl Gardinant, a self-proclaimed “humble old man,” is a sword instructor at his dojo in a rural, backwater village.
