First Worthwhile Look at Castlevania ReBirth

Previously restricted to some not-so-hot magazine photos, we can now get a much better idea of what to expect from Konami’s upcoming Castlevania: The Adventure ReBirth, which will be available to eager Japanese gamers as early as next week on Wii’s Virtual Console service.

Like Contra ReBirth before it (which we reviewed here), Adventure ReBirth brings that old-school flavor back in full, though this time it isn’t an entirely fresh endeavor. It might as well be, really, because this is a complete remake of the first Game Boy entry in the long-running franchise.

Castlevania: The Adventure hit the black & white portable world in 1989, and it’s come along way visually since then, even with the throwback 16-bit graphics. Though there isn’t a solid release date for North America at the moment, I’d imagine we won’t be waiting too long over here. For now, dust off those Game Boys so you can better appreciate it when it hits, and peep the screen below for a sample of what’s to come.
