Magical girl anime fans, take note: an anime adaptation of the popular light novel series Magical Girl Raising Project is on the way, and we’ve got the latest trailer and airdate right here.
Magical Girl Raising Project began life as a series of light novels written by Asari Endo and takes place in a world where 16 girls have been given magical powers to help regular folks – all sounds good, until the magical girl administration decides 16 is about eight too many and pits the girls against each other in a Battle Royale-style, uh, battle.
The eight-volume light novel series has also been adapted into a single-volume manga.
The series, which premieres October 1, is directed by Hiroyuki Hashimoto (Is the order a rabbit?) and written by Takao Yoshioka (Elfen Lied, Your Lie in April). It’s being animated over at Lerche (Assassination Classroom).
Based on the premise and the fact the writer of Elfen Lied is at the wheel, we suspect this series will definitely appeal to fans of darker magical girl stuff.
