This week is a big one for Gosho Aoyama’s Detective Conan manga, AKA Case Closed. The series just released its 100th volume, bringing with it the announcement that the manga has hit the milestone of 250 million copies in circulation around the world.
The Detective Conan manga first launched in Shogakukan’s Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine in January 1994. Aoyama commented on the occasion and provided a quick memorial signature/sketch:
Hello, this is Aoyama! It’s been 28 years since it started in 1994… When I first started, I thought it would be a blessing if I could publish one volume after three months of serialization, but… (laughs) I never thought it would reach 100 volumes… This is all thanks to the fans who have continued to support it for over a quarter of a century! Thank you very much! If you’ve bought all the volumes, your bookshelf is probably stained brown, but if you think of it as brick-pattern wallpaper, it won’t bother you too much… (It definitely will! (laughs))
Conan Edogawa VA Minami Takayama provides narration for a commercial for the 100th volume:

VIZ Media publishes the series under the title Case Closed in English. Here’s how they describe it:
Precocious high school student Jimmy Kudo uses his keen powers of observation and astute intuition to solve mysteries that have left law enforcement officials baffled. Hot on the trail of a suspect, Jimmy is accosted from behind and fed a strange chemical which physically transforms him into a grade schooler! Taking on the pseudonym Conan Edogawa, he attempts to track down the people who did this to him. But until he finds a cure for his bizarre condition, Jimmy continues to help the police solve their toughest cases.
