The anime is based on the manga Game Center Shоjo to Ibunka Kоryū by Hirokazu Yasuhara. It’s published in Japan by Kadokawa, but so far it has not been licensed for a North American release. The basic premise of the manga is that it follows part-time arcade worker Renji Kusakabe and his friendship with Lily, a girl from England. The manga started out on social media prior to Kadokawa picking it up for publication.

Cultural Exchange With a Game Centre Girl is being made at Nomad, with Toshihiro Kikuchi of Bungo Stray Dogs Wan! and Pseudo Harem helming the project as director. The person tasked with series scripts is Yasunori Yamada, known for working on Elegant Yokai Apartment Life and Web Ghost PiPoPa. Its soundtrack is composed by Takuro Iga, whose credits include Trillion Game and Oshi no Ko.

Here is the known voice cast: Sally Amaki plays Lily Baker, Shōya Chiba plays Renji Kusakabe, Reo Osanai plays Aoi Kusakabe, Kaori Ishihara plays Hotaru Katsuragi, Asaki Yuikawa plays Karin Kaga, and Ai Kayano plays Momoko Mochizuki.

The opening theme song is titled “Futari no Start Button” (translated as “Their Start Button”) and performed by Amaki (again) with Reo Osanai. You can hear part of that song in a previous trailer by going here.

Crunchyroll will be streaming Cultural Exchange With a Game Centre Girl as part of its summer lineup. You can see the whole lineup here.
