You may recall the Condom Battler Goro web anime that was unleashed last year through Okamoto Industries, Japan’s leading manufacturer of condoms. The shorts promoted safe sex while painting the picture of a nonexistent long-running anime series that both evoked nostalgia and got its message across in a humorous way. Well, Goro is back for more, and this time he’s serious.
Eschewing the ’90s anime style, Condom Battler Goro: Revive takes place five years and six months in the future, boasting a more grim and realistic style. Goro is now struggling with adulthood and his own legacy at the age of 30, starting with the first of two digest videos. This one lets the audience know that “it’s wrong to think it’s embarrassing to wear a condom.”
As the second video urges, “it’s a big problem to not be able to say ‘Wear a condom.'”
Hopefully this won’t be the last we see of Goro!
