Cho Aniki Hits Wii Virtual Console Today

Perhaps this will inspire the inevitable return of the weekly Virtual Boy column that once pounced about the old-school Otaku USA blog. It’s certainly not out of the question, but it’ll be hard to top a release week like this one in the near future, and that’s for one reason only: Cho Aniki. Yes, believe it or not, everyone’s favorite homoerotic horizontal shooter has finally made it to America, and you can now steer the musclebound men and, quoting from Nintendo’s press release, “Power up your character and options with protein from defeated enemies to have them “bulk up•bCrLf with a yell, and take their macho battle to the next level.”

Hardly as exciting as this TurboGrafx16 CD-ROM title is the other VC release of the week, Final Soldier. If you’re trying to complete your Soldier series shooter collection on Virtual Console, then this bad boy is for you. Everyone else will see it as Just Another TG16 Shooter and, while I LOVE shooters, I’m going to have to bow out of this one. Wii’s downloadable selection is absolutely flooded with them.
