The movie Cherry Magic! the Movie: Thirty Years of Virginity Can Make You a Wizard?! (CheriMaho the Movie ~30-sai Dōtei da to Mahō Tsukai ni Nareru Rashii~ in the original Japanese) is being released on April 8, 2022, and a teaser trailer has just dropped.
The Cherry Magic! Thirty Years of Virginity Can Make You a Wizard?! started out as a manga series created by Yuu Toyota. From there it received a live-action television show that debuted in October 2020. Crunchyroll picked up streaming rights. The film takes place after the TV show, and a number of people are returning from the show to work on the movie.
Eiji Akaso and Keita Machida are back as the leads, Kiyoshi Adachi and Yūichi Kurosawa, respectively. Also reprising their roles are Kōdai Asaka (playing Masato Tsuge), Yūtarō (playing Minato Wataya), Takuya Kusakawa (playing Yūta Rokkaku), Ryō Satō (playing Kii Fujisaki), and Suzunosuke (playing Kengo Urabe).
Like the TV series, it’s being directed by Hiroki Kazama, who also previously worked on the live-action Cheer Boys!!.
The original manga started in 2018, and Square Enix Manga & Books publishes it in English. So far three volumes have been published, and the fourth is scheduled to be released on March 22, not long before the movie’s release. Square Enix Manga & Books gave this description for the first volume:
“Adachi, a thirty-year-old virgin, discovers he has the magical power to read the minds of people he touches. Unfortunately, the ability just makes him miserable since he doesn’t know how to use it well! And to make matters worse, when he accidentally reads the mind of his very competent, handsome colleague, Adachi discovers the guy has a raging crush on none other than Adachi himself! Things are about to get VERY awkward!”
Is this a movie you’d want to check out?
