Check Out SPY x FAMILY’s New Opening Sequence and Song

The new season of the fan-favorite SPY x FAMILY anime will be here on October 7, and ahead of this the clean, credit-less opening animation sequence has been released. The new opening theme song is titled “Kurakura” and performed by Ado. On top of that, the animation here was both storyboarded and directed by none other than Masaaki Yuasa, who has directed INU-OH, Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!, and Mind Game.

Crunchyroll is offering a simultaneous release with Japan, at least for the subtitled version. There will be an English dub, just as there was for the first season, plus dubs in other languages as well. However, there’s no announcement yet on when to expect these dubs.

The anime is being made at WIT STUDIO and CloverWorks, with Kazuhiro Furuhashi back to helm as director. The person overseeing series scripts is Ichiro Okouchi, who has worked on Code Geass.

The popular franchise is also releasing a movie called Gekijōban SPY×FAMILY Code: White on December 22. Unlike the anime TV series, which is based on the manga, the film will have an entirely new story.

VIZ Media publishes the original manga by Tatsuya Endō for American audiences, and gave this description for the plot:

Master spy Twilight is the best at what he does when it comes to going undercover on dangerous missions in the name of a better world. But when he receives the ultimate impossible assignment—get married and have a kid—he may finally be in over his head!

Not one to depend on others, Twilight has his work cut out for him procuring both a wife and a child for his mission to infiltrate an elite private school. What he doesn’t know is that the wife he’s chosen is an assassin and the child he’s adopted is a telepath!
