Check Out Footage of the ZOMBIE LAND SAGA Play with Subtitles

zombie land saga play

We’ve posted about anime-based stage plays from time to time, but it’s rare to get to see them performed outside of Japan; that’s changing with the ZOMBIE LAND SAGA play, though! Avex Pictures shared a 15-minute digest movie of one of the ZOMBIE LAND SAGA Stage de DOOON! performances, based on the ZLS anime. Best of all, this one has English subtitles.

This particular play was performed four times at Tokyo’s Sogetsu Hall on September 5 and 6, following a COVID-19-related delay that pushed it back from its initial March plans. Yu Murai (RICE on STAGE Love Kome) writes and directs the story based on the first seven episodes of the anime, including some newly added original scenes.

Check out the extended sample of the ZOMBIE LAND SAGA play in action:

Crunchyroll streamed the anime as it aired. Here’s the synopsis:

A typical morning. The usual music. Their normal lives. The peace these seven girls experience will suddenly be destroyed. By the living dead… zombies. A reality that they never wanted a part of, an amazing and terrifying zombie world. They all share one wish: “We want to live.” These girls will struggle through this saga, in order to achieve a miracle. MAPPA, Avex Pictures, and Cygames team up to bring you a juicy, 100% original anime. A timeless shocker for all audiences, a brand new style of zombie anime, will soon rise.

Hopefully the ZOMBIE LAND SAGA play is just one of many stage adaptations we’ll get to see English subtitled footage of in the future!
