The movie adapts the Reze Arc of the manga, following on from the TV series, which aired in 2022. It’s produced by MAPPA with direction from Tatsuya Yoshihara and a script from Hiroshi Seko.

Here’s MAPPA’s official description for the movie:

Denji became “Chainsaw Man”, a boy with a devil’s heart, and is now part of Special Division 4’s devil hunters. After a date with Makima, the woman of his dreams, Denji takes shelter from the rain. There he meets Reze, a girl who works in a café.

The series started out as a manga by Tatsuki Fujimoto, which is available in English through VIZ Media. It got its start in the pages of Weekly Shonen Jump in 2018. It’s nabbed the Harvey Awards’ Best Manga award for three years in a row. You can check out Otaku USA’s review on the first volume of the Chainsaw Man manga here.
