Black Butler Character Designer Minako Shiba Passes Away at 50

Another passing has rocked the industry today, with news that character designer and animator Minako Shiba is no longer with us. The official Twitter accounts for P.A. Works and Studio Pierrot shared the news that Minako Shiba passed away at the age of 50.

Among Shiba’s many contributions to anime were as chief animation director and character designer for series such as Black Butler, Tegami Bachi: Letter Bee, Hikaru no Go, Hypnosis Mic: Division Rap Battle: Rhyme Anima, and many more.

She served as the character designer and chief animation director for “Red Data Girl”, and has contributed greatly to many of our works.

“Minako Shiba-san, who worked as a character designer for many of our works including “Hikaru no Go” and “Tegami Bachi Letter Bee,” has passed away.

We would like to express our deepest condolences.”
