A date is finally here for the second part of Attack on Titan Final Season, which previously left us with a major cliffhanger. With the end of Hajime Isayama’s Attack on Titan manga well in the rearview, the big event we have to look forward to now is the return of the anime adaptation, and the official Twitter account announced plans to continue with the next episode on January 9, 2022.

As you can see, the timing of episode 76 effectively pushes it into January 10, but they’re sticking with January 9 for the official listed date. The account also shared a new trailer:

While fans in Japan wait for more, NHK-G announced plans to broadcast six compilation specials ahead of the broadcast, summing up all 75 episodes that have aired thus far. They will also broadcast the OVA that tell the story from the perspectives of Levi, Annie, and Mikasa, and the compilation specials even include new cuts animated at current Attack on Titan studio MAPPA.

Crunchyroll and Funimation both stream the Attack on Titan Final Season anime. Here’s how the former describes the series:

Known in Japan as Shingeki no Kyojin, many years ago, the last remnants of humanity were forced to retreat behind the towering walls of a fortified city to escape the massive, man-eating Titans that roamed the land outside their fortress. Only the heroic members of the Scouting Legion dared to stray beyond the safety of the walls – but even those brave warriors seldom returned alive. Those within the city clung to the illusion of a peaceful existence until the day that dream was shattered, and their slim chance at survival was reduced to one horrifying choice: kill – or be devoured!
