Aniplex Seeks Writers For New Script Development Lab

Readers out there who feel like anime just keeps on using the same tired tropes have reason to feel a bit of optimism with this announcement from Aniplex.

The anime giant has announced it will open a screenwriting lab it’s calling the Aniplex Script Room to take “new approaches” to anime production, and is encouraging members of the general public to apply for writing positions.

No professional writing experience is necessary to apply.

The full stated mission of the Script Room is to discover “new approaches to anime and new talents.”

The Script Room will be supervised by Tomohiko Ito, the director of Occult Academy, Silver Spoon, Erased, and most famously, Sword Art Online.

We’re excited to see what emerges from the room.
