After 13 Years, a Trailer Drops for Kimi ni Todoke – From Me to You Season 3

A trailer has dropped for the third season of the Kimi ni Todoke – From Me to You anime, and it lets us know that new episodes will become available globally on Netflix this August. Netflix is already offering the previous seasons both subbed and dubbed. And this new season has been a long time waiting for fans — the last season came out 13 years ago!

Mamiko Noto is back to play Sawako Kuronuma, just as Daisuke Namikawa is back to play Shota Kazehaya. Here are the new actors listed for the season: Miyuki Sawashiro plays Ayane Yano, Yuko Sanpei plays Chizuru Yoshida, Yuichi Nakamura plays Ryu Sanada, Mamoru Miyano plays Kento Miura, Yuki Ono plays Kazuichi Arai (Pin), and Aya Hirano plays Ume Kurumizawa.

The anime is being made at Production I.G, with Kenichi Matsuzawa of The Legend of the Galactic Heroes: Die Neue These helming the project as director. The scripts are being written by both Michiko Yokote of Gintama and Tomoko Konparu of Uta no Prince-sama – Maji Love 1000%. Konparu is also in charge of overseeing the series scripts.

VIZ Media releases the original manga by Karuho Shiina and gave this description for the first volume:

Sawako Kuronuma is the perfect heroine…for a horror movie. With striking similarities to a haunting movie character–jet-black hair, sinister smile and silent demeanor–she’s mistakenly called Sadako by those around her. But behind her scary façade is a very misunderstood teenager. Too shy to fit in, all she wants to do is make some friends. But when the most popular boy in class befriends her, she’s sure to make more than just that–she’s about to make some enemies too!

The manga has been quite popular, with approximately 36 million copies out in circulation, counting both physical and digital books.
