Doctors Can Comfort Patients with New Pokémon Medical Wear

Japanese medical apparel company Classico describes itself as “a brand of stylish lab coats that are designed to uplift the spirits of the people who wear them.” It’s also apparently meant to uplift the spirits of the patients around the medical staff, as Classico has rolled out new examples of Pokémon medical wear.

New examples? Yes, this is not their first foray into Pokémon medical clothing. They previously made scrubs, and now they’ve added Eevee and Snorlax on their scrub tops. Their scrub pants previously had Pokémon characters embroidered on the butt. This didn’t go over well with fans. Not only would medical staff be sitting on the characters, but they’d be blocking the view of the characters from patients. Likewise, if they’re wearing a lab coat and standing, patients still might not be able to see the characters.

So for the new set of scrub pants, the Pokémon characters have been shifted to the front and near the person’s hip.

Classico also unveiled a new white lab coat for doctors that has the outlines of Pikachu, Squirtle, Bulbasaur, and Charmander, some of the most recognizable characters from the franchise. And the buttons are little Poké Balls!

These are available to buy online, so you don’t have to be a medical person to wear them. They could just be comfy. They aren’t cheap, though. Together, the scrub pants and top cost 23,980 yen, which is about $163. Meanwhile, the lab coat cost is 32,890 yen, which is about $223.

Hopefully enough are being made to meet demand, so it doesn’t turn out like McDonald’s Japan’s recent foray into Pokémon Happy Meals, which led to many stores running out of supplies on day one and tons of food getting wasted while cards got scalped. These outfits don’t involve any cards, and hopefully they’ll cheer up the days of some patients being treated.
