Me & Roboco Movie Shows Off Multiverse in Two New Trailers

Two new Me & Roboco trailers have dropped ahead of the anime movie’s release. The movie has a whole multiverse storyline going on, so two of those storylines get a sneak peek. The first is the “from a Showa-era gag manga worldline” Roboco trailer, and you can hear the voice talents of Masako Nozawa (Goku in the Dragon Ball franchise).

Next there is the “from a romantic comedy worldline” Roboco trailer. This time around you’ll hear the voice talents of Sumire Uesaka (Hahari Hanazono in The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, REALLY Love You).

In both cases, these are voice actresses with a long list of roles.

While the movie was initially supposed to come out in 2024, it got bumped back so it could be worked on more and get a better quality.

The movie is being made at Studio Gallop, with Akitaro Daichi of Fruits Basket (the 2001 version) and Ninja Girl & Samurai Master back in the director’s seat, having previously directed the TV anime.

The franchise started out as a manga series by Shuhei Miyazaki, which is available in English through VIZ Media and MANGA Plus. Both offer the manga digitally as a same-day release, though the majority of manga published by VIZ are in print.

The TV anime version is streaming on Crunchyroll. Crunchyroll gave this description for its plot:

Me & Roboco Plot

Ten-year-old Bondo has always dreamt of owning a cute robot maid. They’re beautiful, sweet, and graceful servants. But when he finally gets his hands on one, she’s not what he expected. Roboco is twice the size of other maids, twice as strong, and twice as weird! Something’s off about this robot. Can Bondo and his friends figure out her secret?

Me & Roboco hits Japanese theaters on April 18.
