Macross: Do You Remember Love? Gets Theatrical 4K ReleaseDo you remember Macross: Do You Remember Love?? The film turned 40 last year, and now it’s getting a theatrical and 4K Blu-ray rerelease in Japan.

The movie is out in theaters January 25, and the Blu-ray comes out January 29.

Do You Remember Love?, which is a theatrical retelling of the original Macross series by Shoji Kawamori, has been remastered in 4K from a 35mm master negative, which was scanned at the even higher resolution of 5K. For better or worse, an AI tool called FORS has been used for “noise reduction, detail correction, sharpness, i/p conversion, frame rate conversion, etc.”

You can judge the results for yourself with the video below.

The UHD Blu-ray includes both the 1984 and 2016 versions of the film as well as an upscaled version of “Tenshi no Enogu” from Flash Back 2012. It also includes English subs. Tempting.
